I have run in a few 5k's and two 10k and one 15k.  My best time for a 5k is 25:02 minutes.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I hope to continue to stay active running and possibly improve my previous running times.

Personal:

I'm married with four children from 6 years old up to 13 years old. A couple of years ago I lost 60 lbs and started running to keep it off.  I now run 20 miles a week with a neighbor and enjoy the ability to exercise.

It's a new year and what a great way to start it.  We went out through the golf coarse. There was little traffic and we were able to just enjoy the beautiful sunshine. Something we usually dont see while running.  It was a good run for me I felt great the whole time I just cant quite get up to speed with Jody.  Ive decided not to worry about it though and just concentrate on making it enjoyable for me.

One day I will surprise her and leave her to catch up.  Ha ha.  One can dream!

Today we ran up hill the first 3 and 1/2 miles. They were slow but after that it was all down hill and it seemed to fly by. I felt really good and am ready to get going on the rest of the day.

We went back and forth on if we were going to go running today after looking outside and seeing a whiteout.  But Jody persisted and got me out after the snow quit.  We ended up getting out 7 miles by zig zagging through neighborhoods and looping churches.  All in all it was a nice run.A little slippery but nice to get out in the fresh snow and enjoy above freezing weather.

I didn't know that a road could be so icy.  There were a couple of ice skating moments where I all but ate it but we zig zagged through the neighborhood and avoided traffic. and ultimately we finished with no falls and no broken bones, which after a slippery day like today is a huge success.

Today we ran up through the golf coarse.  There was a very little wind that shouldn't have mattered but when we started up hill it was cold.  After we got to the top thuogh we were rewarded with a beautiful view of the valley.  I just wish that the sun was starting to come up so we could have seen the sunrise while up there.  I struggled to keep up with Jody but got the run done none the less.

Today we ran west and down to parkway blvd.  Its a great route to give you road access and little traffic.  Yesterday we took the day off and it felt good to get out and do our run today.  Contrary to what I tell Jody I do enjoy to get out an dget my run done in the morning.  It starts my day of right.  Not to day I dont enjoy my days when I sleep in and take the day off. You need those every once in a while.

We did it.  We went early and I slept really back so I was worried that it would be a hard run.The first mile was hard to get into and the last little bit I struggled but other than that it was pretty good.  It was nice to have it be a little warmer out and not so icy. When all the snow melts and we are back to totally dry runs we wont know what to do.

Today I got up tired and wanting to cancel on Jody, I had an awful night last night.  I also had extra kids that slept over and my 4 year old niece was up scared to sleep so needless to say it was a ruff night.  The first mile was hard and after that when I got warmed up it felt great.Jody did have to come and makesure I was still doing ok at one point however but it was good to get out and to go long.I started this running thing just wanting to get a couple miles a day, wow who would of thought, 10 miles, If you asked me if I could do this a year and a half ago I would of laughed at you. Not to mention I had no desire to do this. Now my day doesn't start until I have got my run. 

 A HOT shower is waiting for me. Then we are off to the safe kids fair.

It was COLD!!  I was so stiff yesterday from Saturday's run. So all things considered I had a pretty good run.  Now on with the day and tonight we get to start the second half of our year of bowling.  oh and for the record Jody you are just getting faster.  I am steady and true to my time. Maybe someday I will speed up too.Thanks for the run.

We ran at the kearns oval indoors so we were not so cold.  It is a nice track to run on. And with the ice and the sub arctic temperature it was probably the safest choice. 

Good to do and good to have it done!

We went over to the west valley fitness center and ran the track 11 laps to a mile.  I started out tired and hoping to get 4 miles.  After I got that I just added on one mile at a time waiting on Jody to finish.  When 7:00 rolled around I had got my 7 miles (77 laps) wow how we could walk out of the fitness center in a straight line is beyond me.  Yeah we did it.  Now I get the weekend off and hopefully warmer weather next week so we can run outside again.

I took the weekend off which was great to be able to sleep in. But I definitely needed to get back out and running.  Our run today was cold when we left my house it was 11 degrees.  But luckily there was no wind so it really didn't feel to bad.  Overall I had a great run.

Its great to be back at it.

We went up to the olympic oval today and got out of the cold.  It was a nice relaxed run for me.  Now its to the store to get the running done that I have put off doing.

Today we ventured back outside into the cold.  It was pretty good until we got headed back . No one  understands the concept of a snow shovel.  The sidewalks were awful.  But overall it was good to get out and get the day started right.  Then I got home and found my daughter who needed to be leaving for school in 5 minutes still in bed.  We got her up and we are in hustle mode now.

I did it. I hoped for under 26 minutes so to get 25:45 was wonderful for me.  It was hard to get ready this morning.  I wasn't sure if it would be cold or hot so I just winged it and went with my jacket.  I was dressed just fine other than my toes were cold the first half.  It was fun and I am looking forward to doing the 10k in a couple weeks.  It was fun to get out with Jody and Katy and get back into doing a run.

I was able to meet Brent and Sylvia after the race. Its nice to see others out doing what I enjoy.

We ended up at the olympic oval again today. It was either that or get blown away.  I slept awful last night so I had no drive this morning.  I was able to hang in there and get 6 so hopefully tomorrow we can get back in the groove and start getting our 7 again.  And hopeflly we get to go outside tomorrow.

We were able to get out and run outside. I was ready to be outside.  It was a little windy so  the first half was against the breeze, but it wasn't bad, just enough to make the return trip nice.  As always Jody left me in her dust. It was all in all a great run for me and great to get back up to our 7 miles.

We went up to the oval again today to avoid all the snow and blowing snow and cars trying to run us down.  The first have was hard to up the time on, but once I started challenging myself to pass others I was able to speed up a little. Still no record breakers but it felt good to get out and do it. 

I got home and had to run knids to school.   Then I got to play on the 4 wheeler and throw some snow.  Now that the walks are clean and I am frozen I am off to the shower and onto hopefully a great day!!!

It was a cold and windy morning.  As long as we didn't run south we were ok but once you started to run south it was bitter cold.  I was grateful to get out and get our run in and I am glad to be back in out of all the wind.  Now I get to get ready and go out to lunch with a friend.
